Damage Fees
At One Knight Hire, we understand that accidents can happen. Our garments are professionally cared for and enjoyed by many customers, so we simply ask that every renter treats them with care and respect throughout the hire period.
The renter is responsible for returning every garment in the same condition in which it was received, excluding reasonable wear and tear associated with normal rental use.
Normal Wear & Tear
As our garments are rental items, minor signs of wear are expected and do not incur additional charges.
Examples of normal wear and tear may include slight creasing from wear, minor loose threads, or general signs of professional cleaning that do not affect the appearance or functionality of the garment.
Chargeable Damage
Damage that goes beyond reasonable wear and tear may result in additional charges.
This includes, but is not limited to, makeup stains, fake tan stains, food or beverage stains, wine or alcohol stains, permanent marks, fabric pulls or snags, tears, rips, broken seams, broken zips, missing buttons, missing embellishments, cigarette or vape burns, scorch marks from hair styling tools, pet damage, water damage, permanent odours, mould caused by incorrect storage, or any alterations or modifications made to the garment without written approval from One Knight Hire.
Garment Care
To help prevent damage, we ask that customers take extra care while wearing our garments.
Please avoid unnecessary contact with fake tan, makeup, food, drinks, jewellery, handbags, rough or abrasive surfaces, sharp objects, open flames and hot styling tools.
Customers must not wash, dry clean, steam, alter, repair or modify any garment unless expressly instructed by One Knight Hire. Attempting to clean or repair a garment yourself may result in further damage and additional charges.
Professional Cleaning
Professional dry cleaning is included in every rental.
Please do not attempt to remove stains or arrange cleaning yourself. Our garments are cleaned using specialist methods appropriate for delicate designer fabrics.
If your garment becomes stained during your hire, simply let us know when returning the garment. We appreciate honesty and will always assess each situation fairly.
Repair Costs
Where damage can be successfully repaired, the renter will be responsible for the reasonable costs associated with restoring the garment.
These costs may include professional cleaning, specialist stain removal, repairs, replacement embellishments, zip replacements, seam repairs, express repair services, administrative costs and any loss of rental income while the garment is unavailable for future bookings.
Replacement Costs
If a garment is lost, stolen, destroyed or deemed beyond economical repair, the renter may be charged up to the full Recommended Retail Price (RRP) or replacement value of the garment.
Replacement costs must be paid within 30 days of notification unless an alternative written arrangement has been agreed to by One Knight Hire.
Payment of a replacement fee does not transfer ownership of the garment. All garments remain the exclusive property of One Knight Hire at all times.
Reporting Damage
If accidental damage occurs during your hire, please notify One Knight Hire as soon as reasonably possible.
Providing prompt notice allows us to organise repairs quickly and minimise disruption to future bookings.
We understand that genuine accidents happen and appreciate customers who communicate openly with us.
Assessment of Damage
Every garment is thoroughly inspected before and after each hire.
One Knight Hire reserves the right to determine, acting reasonably, whether the condition of a returned garment constitutes normal wear and tear or chargeable damage.
Where damage charges apply, we may provide photographs, repair invoices or other reasonable evidence to support the assessment.
Failure to Pay Damage Fees
Where damage fees remain unpaid, One Knight Hire reserves the right to recover all outstanding amounts through lawful means, including engaging a debt collection agency where permitted by law.
Customers with outstanding balances may also be refused future bookings until all amounts have been paid in full.
